09/11/19 Ashville 0, Mersey Royal 2 Match Report
ASHVILLE 0 MERSEY ROYAL 2 Ashville Giant killing from last season beating Cammell Lairds enroute to the final came back and bit them hard this term, Mersey royal this time doing the giant killing a brace from Liam Driscoll was enough to see them through. Mersey Royals first goal came from a looped ball over the top of the centre halfs with the muddy conditions there was little bounce meaning the ball falling kindly to Liam Driscoll who took it around the enrushing stopper Jamie Kelly and slotted into an empty net. despite the early second half heroics of Jamie Kelly who saved a spot kick to keep the Villa in the tie, later on he was dismissed for bringing down an opposing player inside the area which the ref seen fit to brandish the red, leaving the young but composed Callum Smith to don the #1 GK jersey and attempt to save the resulting penalty kick unfortunately it wasn't to be and Liam Driscoll converted striking the ball hard and low into the left-hand corner of the goal. Ashville had no reply and now concentrate on the Pyke Cup on the hunt for silverware this season.
